Nothing ever happens in this forgotten town. Every day is as predictable as the last, dragging on into eternity. And that made it even more strange when you happened upon the journal. It may have been hidden by the decaying foliage of last season on the forest floor, washed up on the shore of the stream that leads into the old cave outside of town, or even perched among the rafters of the old abandoned barn behind the high school, but wherever it was that you spotted it, it drew you in.

Tether is a role-playing game for two players that is played through the process of writing journal entries. Each player will take on the role of a character living in the same rural town, during different time periods. The two characters are connected by a journal known as The Tether which allows them to write notes to each other through time. The two players (and characters) will work together to discover the secrets of an ancient being that haunts the town. Players will take turns drawing a card from a deck which is associated with a prompt, then using that prompt to write a journal entry. Over the course of 16 entries, the two will play out a story of suspense, horror, and possibly triumph.

This is the digital version of Tether and includes a PDF with all of the rules necessary to play. If you'd like to purchase a physical copy of the game, you can do so at https://rattiincantati.com/products/tether

Hey, Adam! I'm playing Tether with a friend of mine right now and we are both loving it! We're almost done and are really excited to wrap things up. I was wondering, if we were to try to publish what we have written, how could we best credit you?

Hey there! I'm really glad to hear that you're enjoying Tether! I certainly encourage you to publish any material of your own related to Tether, and I only ask that you include somewhere that the work is "inspired by the roleplaying game Tether by Adam Baffoni."

Also, I would love it if you could let me know if you do publish your writings so that I can share it on my social media pages! If it is a direct publication of your journal entries, I think that would be a fantastic resource for new players to see what a playthrough looks like. Thanks!

Awesome! If we end up publishing our game, I'll be sure to include that credit and I'll let you know about it as well. We only have a couple of cards left and have really enjoyed the process. You made a great game!

Hi Adam! I purchased Tether back in January of last year and have played with 2 of my friends since, its such a wonderful and terrifying game you've made! Unfortunately I my motherboard was brunt to a crisp along with all of the documents and files in it. Is it possible for me to grab another copy?

Hello. I'm glad to hear you've had a good time playing! If this is the same account you used to purchase the game, you should be able to go to your library and redownload the files as many times as you want!

I've been playing this game with my friend for over a year now! We're mailing a journal back and forth, and it's been an absolute blast. I'm about to start a new game with another friend and I Could Not Be More Excited.

Saw this on a tiktok ((4)#beggartok | TikTok) and immediately bought it.  Looks amazing.  Now I need to buy a bunch of stamps.

I’m wondering if anyone has started posting their finished games as short horror novels. Because reading through them would be a real trip!

Hello! Sorry if this is overstepping, but could you replenish the community copies? This seems like the perfect game to get one of my friends into RPGs with.

I've added 25 more community copies!

Thank you <3

Hey Adam, I'm currently working on a solution to play the game online (using Google Sheets). In case you are interested, for example to add it as an asset to the game, I'd love to get in touch about more details :) additionally, I'd be interested to talk about a translation into German if that sounds interesting to you as well. Cheers!

That sounds awesome! I would love to chat a bit more about it and see what you've come up with! Please feel free to send me an email at abaffrpgs@gmail.com if you'd like to share!

Hi! Was there ever anything resolved to make this playable online?

I’d love to get a physical copy but the link above doesn’t seem to work anymore.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It should be fixed now

doesn't seem to be working now either... it's this link, right?

I was curious as I bought this for me and my sister, do we each need a deck of providence? Or do we share one deck between both people?

You'll share a single deck between both players

Thank you! I wanted to be sure before I started playing

Just found this and I'm super excited! Someone had mentioned it on TikTok and it took me a moment to find it. Got the digital version and about to go buy a deck of cards now.

(1 edit)

I'm so excited to play this!

Buuuuut I would love to know if there is a certain price to pay for the "exclusive content" mentioned in the description. I am more than willing to buy again if that means getting it lol >:)

Thanks so much!! Sorry but that actually should read Community Copies and not exclusive content, but it's fixed now!!

Nice work Adam, purchased. I’m both excited and scared!

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy playing
